How do I become a volunteer firefighter?

Becoming a volunteer firefighter is one of the most rewarding and selfless decisions you can make. Briaroaks Fire Department is always accepting applications. We have an ONLINE APPLICATION that you can use to apply for a volunteer position with us. The application can also be downloaded and turned in at any regular Tuesday meeting.

What training is required?

Check Your Smoke Alarm Placement
Smoke alarms should be installed on every level of your home, inside every bedroom, and outside each sleeping area. Mount them on the ceiling or high on a wall, 6 to 8 inches below the ceiling. Avoid placing them near windows, doors, or ducts where drafts could interfere with their operation.
Fire Extinguishers Have a Shelf Life
Most home fire extinguishers are good for 5 to 12 years, but they lose pressure over time. Check the gauge monthly to make sure it is in the green zone. If the needle is in the red or the extinguisher is expired, replace it. Remember the acronym PASS: Pull the pin, Aim at the base, Squeeze the handle, Sweep side to side.
